VE - 75 years on

Yesterday was quite something wasn’t it? It was the only day I can remember where literally everybody seemed to gather together to celebrate the same cause (albeit indoors). With the exception of the Olympics, the World Cup and other sporting events, I can’t remember a day in the historical calendar being so well commemorated. The warm weather was perfect for the trestle-tabled picnics that lined gardens, as Union Jack bunting flapped proudly in the breeze. It’s 75 years since unconditional peace was declared, marking the end of the Second World War and it really did feel a special day. There are so many videos from May 1945, where soldiers are seen kissing girls in fountains, massive tables are joined to fill the street and everyone is beaming at the new feeling of freedom and of peace. Never in my life-time have I seen a commemoration of VE Day quite like yesterday. We have always paid respects in our thoughts and hearts for all of those amazing men and women whom lost their ...

A day in the life in “Lockdown” and a book review 📚

Hiya, I hope, as ever, this post finds you really well and maybe even enjoying the lovely sunshine today. Whilst the world is a bit crazy at the moment, at least the sun is shining and the birds are singing. It makes you feel at least some things are normal (though we are in England, is sun normal?) I thought it may be nice to document my day today, for anyone who is THAT bored and also for future me. I’ve realised how I love blogging more than any other sharing on social media because unlike photos it gives me an insight to my thoughts and ideas at the time, and I think that’s pretty cool to look back on. It’s also really calming to write and I do recommend it to anyone wishing to write a diary but doesn’t have the stamina to write daily. You could write it just for yourself and never share it anywhere. Give it a go :) So today started early for me, I woke up actually really refreshed for a change at 7.30am after falling asleep at 9.45pm last night. Normally I’m a getting to sle...

Making shampoo with herbs, getting back into card making and dusting off my camera

Hello, Hope everyone who reads this is doing really really well and is healthy and happy. I just felt inspired to write today, as we’re about to come out of week five of social distancing and week four of lockdown in the U.K. I feel so so lucky to be safe at home, whilst many risk their lives at work looking after the very ill in hospitals, the only thing I have to worry about is how to keep busy which is the easiest job of all really. I think there’s so many things you could do each day, that you don’t even think about and so many of us probably have these items just sitting around waiting to be used. In the first two weeks I decided to read up on medicinal herbs and how they can be used in beauty purposes. Balms, cleansers, shampoos, oils and scrubs can all be made naturally with base oils, essential oils, honey, and flowers. I’ve really come to appreciate the healing properties of rose, marigold, chamomile, lemon balm and rosemary especially - I recommend Rosemary Gladstar’s...

Ways to stay positive during ‘social distancing’ 😊

Hiya, The world is such a crazy place at the moment and my heart goes out to all the people fighting the horrible coronavirus. My heart especially goes out to all the wonderful doctors/nurses/caregivers looking after the ill, and to all the scientists working hard at finding a vaccination. From the people working in shops to ensure people can still get the essentials, the the Police and Fire Departments that still have to look after our country as usual, people really are heroes. In our street a WhatsApp group has been set up to make sure the vulnerable or those unable to get out are helped and for those that still need to go to work, that they’re updated. In the midst of a lot of worry, there is a lot of love being shown. Whilst it is absolutely essential to self isolate for the sake of others and prevent further strain on the NHS, for those that are now having to self isolate as many of us are, it can be a boring time. With the stress of going on in the world outside, it can be...

Things I’m loving in January and a Llandudno adventure :)

Hello, I’m going to be honest and say I’m not feeling the best today- the fatigue is really really heavy but writing always takes my mind off it :) so here goes... I thought it’d be nice to write down all the things I’m loving this month as a way to look back on the things that make me smile. 1) “Expectation” by Anna Hope - I’m just over halfway through this book and LOVE it 2) Waitrose assorted teas that include peach and honey and also strawberry and camomile flavours 3) The Body Shop - Chai Latte shower gel - thank you for amazing Christmas gift Katie!! 4) Lush’s  hair shampoo bars - perfect for sensitive scalps 5) Bath bomb’s and body lotions in general - I’m never normally that organised with body care but I’m learning to fall in love with body butters! 6) Having loved ones that are incredibly supportive and want to be there even when I feel rubbish ❤️ 7) Candles! - I don’t think I’ve fully appreciated them until my 22nd year!!  8) A little canvas book bag th...

Trying to be organised in 2020🌟

Hiya, Today is a very chilled one for me, after work yesterday I thought I’d go for a swim today but it seems like my body needs a rest so that’s what we’ll do. This post is all about tips and tricks I’ve learnt and actually stuck to since last January. It was in February 2019 that I started Bullet Journaling for the first time and realised just how much easier it made everything! As someone who has bad brain fog due to an illness, the anxiety you can feel when easily forgetting things is horrible, and so to just simply write down all your plans, memories and important events is so vital. It sounds such a simple idea and I don’t know why I didn’t do it earlier... I think because actually keeping a diary for thoughts has never been my thing (I tend to write all ideas here and love it), but I think tracking plans or key events is a much easier thing and doesn’t have to be perfect like I imagine a diary to be. Last year, I made my own Bullet Journal. I loved how you can put in you...

Things I am continuously and forever grateful for...

Hi, I know I haven’t written for a good few months, but seeing as I find my little blog much more like a diary than anything else I think it doesn’t matter how long I’m gone. I think I’ll always come back to writing. So much has changed in my life in the last few months for the better and all of it derives from a boy who’s the very best person I’ve ever met and who also happens to have a name beginning with J ❤️. A lot of people have been making resolutions for 2020, but I think it makes much more sense to write a list of things to be grateful for. The smallest of things I’ve found mean the most and so I think it’s so important to cherish these things. 1) To be sitting in a warm house and to have a device to write this on at all 2) By the grace of God, to have a family that LOVEs me, that supports me and cherishes me 3) To be safe 4) To live in a country with comparatively fewer natural disasters than other countries  5) To have a brain that functions enough to empathise ...
