Book Review - Heartburn by Nora Ephron

Hello! I hope this post finds you really well and happy this Saturday evening :) The interesting thing about this book is I almost brought it a month or so back when I had book vouchers. I really find it so hard choosing books, I find people quite easy to read, books not so much 😂 and so I didn’t end up buying it. With my book voucher I ended up buying “Everything I know about love” by Dolly Elderton which should be a classic similar to Bridget Jones for us gals, and so I have no regrets. I’d seen Heartburn on the shelf, though but decided against it for another book I just couldn’t get into and ended up giving away pretty soon after. I can’t even remember the name of it? However, what I did notice in the reviews at the back of Alderton’s book is that her writing style and humour was likened to Nora Ephron’s. After a quick search I found that this author I was indeed going to buy alongside Dolly’s book weirdly enough?! After checking if I could order it in from my local librar

Stoke on Trent’s ‘Fake Festival’ 2019, Roald Dahl’s short stories for adults and a new love of vegan cheese and onion sandwiches

Hello~ how’re you doing? Today is a chilled one for me, having showered, read and then gone for coffee in town with my Mum. It’s been nice. Lately, I’ve got back into Roald Dahl’s fiction for adults and this morning’s read was the amazing “Edward the Conqueror” - originally published in ‘The Newyorker’ in 1953. I love the amazing, funny and sinister twists in Dahl’s adult fiction and I’m yet to find an author I find as skilled in terms of description, humour and darkness all balanced. Later we’re seeing a production at The Gatehouse Theatre in Stafford, so looking forward to that too! Last Saturday was a fun one, Mum and I went to a “Fake Festival”. These are festivals that run up and down the country and can run from 1-3 day events, where all the bands performing are cover bands. All the while the atmosphere is one in the style of a festival. Saturday’s Fest was in Hanley park and featured cover bands of Green day, Blondie, David Bowie, The Foo Fighters, The Killers and P!nk

How am I just listening to Sigrid?

Today has been such a nice day, despite feeling quite tired most of the day work was good, I’m looking forward to baked salmon for tea and my fluffy dog Evie is currently asleep on my lap. I love that everyday at the moment I seem to be finding new books or music. It’s so cool to be absorbing so much from all different mediums. One of these artists is Sigrid. Despite the Norwegian singer releasing hit singles in the U.K. I can’t say I ever listened to her music until yesterday. I think I just have heard bops like “Don’t feel like crying” and “Suckerpunch” on the background at gym’s/cafe’s as the choruses are too familiar, but I’ve never known of the artist behind them. I love how electro-poppy her music is and how simple and powerful her lyrics are. Another artist I’m just listening to is Maisie Peters, I love how beautifully pure her voice sounds, all the wispy harmonies are so incredible 🌟 I love that music drifts in and out of your favourite memories so often. Last night fo
