Things I’m loving in January and a Llandudno adventure :)

Hello, I’m going to be honest and say I’m not feeling the best today- the fatigue is really really heavy but writing always takes my mind off it :) so here goes... I thought it’d be nice to write down all the things I’m loving this month as a way to look back on the things that make me smile. 1) “Expectation” by Anna Hope - I’m just over halfway through this book and LOVE it 2) Waitrose assorted teas that include peach and honey and also strawberry and camomile flavours 3) The Body Shop - Chai Latte shower gel - thank you for amazing Christmas gift Katie!! 4) Lush’s  hair shampoo bars - perfect for sensitive scalps 5) Bath bomb’s and body lotions in general - I’m never normally that organised with body care but I’m learning to fall in love with body butters! 6) Having loved ones that are incredibly supportive and want to be there even when I feel rubbish ❤️ 7) Candles! - I don’t think I’ve fully appreciated them until my 22nd year!!  8) A little canvas book bag th...

Trying to be organised in 2020🌟

Hiya, Today is a very chilled one for me, after work yesterday I thought I’d go for a swim today but it seems like my body needs a rest so that’s what we’ll do. This post is all about tips and tricks I’ve learnt and actually stuck to since last January. It was in February 2019 that I started Bullet Journaling for the first time and realised just how much easier it made everything! As someone who has bad brain fog due to an illness, the anxiety you can feel when easily forgetting things is horrible, and so to just simply write down all your plans, memories and important events is so vital. It sounds such a simple idea and I don’t know why I didn’t do it earlier... I think because actually keeping a diary for thoughts has never been my thing (I tend to write all ideas here and love it), but I think tracking plans or key events is a much easier thing and doesn’t have to be perfect like I imagine a diary to be. Last year, I made my own Bullet Journal. I loved how you can put in you...

Things I am continuously and forever grateful for...

Hi, I know I haven’t written for a good few months, but seeing as I find my little blog much more like a diary than anything else I think it doesn’t matter how long I’m gone. I think I’ll always come back to writing. So much has changed in my life in the last few months for the better and all of it derives from a boy who’s the very best person I’ve ever met and who also happens to have a name beginning with J ❤️. A lot of people have been making resolutions for 2020, but I think it makes much more sense to write a list of things to be grateful for. The smallest of things I’ve found mean the most and so I think it’s so important to cherish these things. 1) To be sitting in a warm house and to have a device to write this on at all 2) By the grace of God, to have a family that LOVEs me, that supports me and cherishes me 3) To be safe 4) To live in a country with comparatively fewer natural disasters than other countries  5) To have a brain that functions enough to empathise ...

Picking up housey things in a colourful thrift shop

Hello, I hope this post finds everyone really happy and good. Today has been a lovely day and in a way has been quite spontaneous, as all the best days seem to be. I’m writing this post in a cafe in Stoke Station whilst I wait for my train. They’re playing The 1975 songs on repeat, so whoever picked the playlist at Gourmet today, my hat goes off to you. I thought I’d blog here, partly because I was three minutes late for my train home and so have to wait another hour (oh dear) but also because I’ve found today  surprisingly inspiring. So my day started as usual, breakfast, a bath or shower and then whatever the plan is. Today it meant catching the train to Stoke and then getting the train to Hanley to meet my Mum. She’d had a dental appointment and we’d agreed to meet here to browse the shops, have a snack and then she’d go to Moddershall to meet her friend.   I browsed the shops, not really wanting to buy anything more for the looking and shortly after ...

Starting yoga and other loves this month 🧘‍♀️

Hello! 🌞 How are you?? I hope well? I feel like I haven’t written in ages and I probably haven’t πŸ€” I think the last time was just after Latitude and that feels yearssss ago! So put the kettle on, make a cuppa and settle in. Not that much has changed and September feels so calm in the nicest way! I feel like this is the month to try new things and find hobbies I love, so I thought I’d do “5 loves in September”. So without further ado... 1) Libraries As an avid book lover I must say I could be worse with my book spending habits. I almost never buy a book brand new and until last year I can say I hadn’t really ventured into Waterstones much at all! I normally buy all my books from the charity shop for £1-2 or if there is something specific I buy it second hand from Amazon. My thinking is, once I’ve read something once I rarely will want to read it again and will usually pass it on. In September I’ve been thinking more and more about sustainability, helping the planet and gen...

How to breeze through festival season with a chronic illness

Today I thought I’d do a post that I would’ve wanted to read last year, when I attended my first ever festival. Having always loved music and recently been alleviated from the weight of A Levels that finished in June, I set off for ‘Y Not’ - The Peak District’s amazing indie festival.   In the space of this year, I have now just got back from my fourth festival - one that was equally amazing but a very different experience. Having now attended larger, three day festivals, a small two day festival in Liverpool last year and more recently a one day fest in London, I feel I can now provide tips and tricks to people maybe in the same boat.   Of course, a disclaimer needs to add that all illnesses/chronic conditions/ disabilities are different and these tips may not be as useful to you as others, or perhaps you know you would need to adapt your support in accordance with your condition. These tips are just a guideline for you, so nothing has to stop you this festival season. ...

How to relax when you’re someone who feels like they have to be busy

Hello ☺️ How is everyone today? Melting? I thought so...  We’re on the hottest day of the year so far and I can tell. After going for a quick swim this morning and I left my hair wet after washing it. Within 15 minutes of being outside it had dried... Are we even in England? Having very fair skin and a body that doesn’t know how to cool down is a bad combo and so aside from swimming you’ll find me indoors, in the coolest room of the house, until this evening when I’ll catch up with friends for a drink.  My Dad is at home today and we ended up listening to T Rex, Queen, The Smiths and The Sex Pistols and then having quite a philosophical natter. I was saying how, as I get older I am learning to embrace things I can’t change more and focus on what I can. I was also saying though, whilst I don’t get as frustrated when I don’t feel well as I used to, I still have days where I get more irritated by my limitations than others. I was saying that you’d think when you ca...
